Opening :: Saturday, November 17, 2018, 7-9PM

Tempus Projects presents Like a bucket of herbs before a pressing, a solo exhibition featuring the work of New York-based artist Craig Kaths. Through meticulous, hand-crafted labor incorporating organic bent-wood components, burnt drawings, and exploded schematic diagrams referencing sound equipment and musical instruments, Kaths’ sculptures and prints explore his focus on the audible and how the action of hearing shapes his life. Opening on Saturday, November 17th at Tempus Projects with a reception with the artist from 7-9pm, the exhibition will be on view from November 17 - December 29, 2018.

Presenting works with recognizable audible associations, realized through both analog and digital processes, Kaths invites a spirit of playfulness from the viewer while simultaneously creating depths of meaning using sub-cultural hip-hop references and influences, alluding to the banality of our pop music culture and its social connection to our society.

About the Artist: Craig Kaths was born and raised in Tampa in the 80’s. He currently resides in Brooklyn where he has lived and worked as a professional artist and fabricator since 2009. Kaths attended the University of South Florida where he received a Bachelor of Fine Art in printmaking. After graduating, he worked at Tampa-based atelier Graphicstudio, collaborating on print and sculpture editions for three years, before taking a studio position for Takashi Murakami in Queens, New York.
