A transcendental meditation of sorts, YOUR BODY IS A PUNISHMENT is a showcase of mixed media by Anthony Record and Justin Bryan Nelson that explores what lies beneath and beyond our physical reality.
Anthony Record—a Tampa instructor of renown, recognized for his “manic doodles”—conjures Byzantine mosaics and Late Gothic stained glass to illustrate the disconnect that exists between the physical and spiritual. Record’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in shows in New York, San Francisco, Vancouver, Japan, and elsewhere. He teaches Studio Art and Art History at Bay area colleges.
Justin Bryan Nelson, a self-taught artist from Oregon, draws inspiration from his travels, revealing “strange people, landscapes, and objects.” Nelson has exhibited nationally in Scope Miami, Los Angeles, New York, and Portland, and internationally in Australia, Spain, and other nations. He also lives and works in Tampa.
