SCRAPPING FOR THE ARTS

Ongoing

Experimental Skeleton, Inc. presents SCRAPPING FOR THE ARTS, an alternate fundraising structure for emerging exhibition spaces and cultural institutions. Donations of scrap metal are collected, sorted, and used to generate funds to support unique arts projects in need of small capital contributions.

The recycling of metal commodities is a popular way for many who want to supplement their income. Many businesses discard metal that is able to be sold to scrap yards by individuals; the scrap buyers have developed a quick and efficient system of weighing, separating, and paying for these commodities.

The Scrapping for the Arts project uses this system with the help of sponsor businesses to generate an ongoing flow of funds to identified beneficiary nonprofit arts organizations. Arts organizations that wish to benefit from this system will develop their list of sponsor businesses and Scrapping for the Arts will develop the pick-up schedule, sorting of commodities, and transportation to the scrap yards. Donations are tax deductible at market value of the material, to extent provided by law.
