TEMPUS PROJECTS is pleased to announce their summer open call for submissions. ‘Sunistra’ is a multi-media, juried art exhibition focusing on theme of the sinister side of the Sunshine State. The exhibition title is a portmanteau of "sunshine" and the Latin word "sinistra" and reflects the often idyllic/nightmarish dichotomy Florida embodies in its natural, social and political climates. This exhibition will open on Saturday, May 19 from 7-9pm and run through July 06.

'Second Sky: The space between two moments can be vast and yet seem perfectly in sync. Time is in constant flux, but moments of beauty seem to possess the ability to withstand its passing.
The work for this show reflects on time’s relationship to perception. Moments of time: past, present, future and their intersections (time-less-ness). Second Sky engages with time as a historical placeholder of the past, a processing of the present, and a mirage of the future.'

DYLAN BECK is a studio artist and the Department Head of Ceramics and Digital Fabrication at Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, OR. He holds a BFA from Ohio University, a Post Baccalaureate Fellowship from Illinois State University, and a MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA. These diverse environments had a major impact on how he interprets landscape. As a teenager Dylan worked for his father’s home construction business which directly informed his use of materials and understanding of the built environment. His artwork explores the interaction of human activities with the natural environment and the idea that we are currently living in the Anthropocene, where human activities have had a significant global impact on the Earth's ecosystems.
