TEMPUS PROJECTS participates in Scrapping for the Arts

We are asking for donations of metal scraps for the 'Scrapping for the Arts' project. The scrap will be turned in to be recycled, the cash received going toward funding future projects. We are enthusiastic about this unique fundraiser, as it allows us to recycle and create funding without asking for cash donations. Simply bring your scrap metal to the space during a reception or we can arrange to pick it up from you.
The project is run by a local arts collaborative by the name of Experimental Skeleton, inc. The organization secures donations of recyclable metals from businesses and individuals and transports them to local scrap yards, funneling the resulting money into arts venues.
Scrapping for the Arts has the potential to expand its reach beyond the initial obvious benefits. It encourages a sustainable community by use of recycling , not to mention enhancing overall thoughtfulness about our community’s resources. It could easily be expanded for use by other non-profits who could encourage their board members/business owners to donate their scrap metal.
Any contributions, big or small are appreciated. Steel, copper and aluminum are great. No TVs, computers or other electronics, please. Pass the word along to anyone else who might have old scrap metal they have no use for, namely those in construction, auto repair, plumbing, etc.
